In the beginning of 2021, the CST will start the long-prepared project for an AI certification as part of the competence platform KI.NRW. The CST will work together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information System (IAIS), the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), the University of Cologne, the RWTH Aachen University, the German Institute for Standardization (DIN) and numerous DAX-30 and other companies from various industries such as telecommunications, banking, insurance, chemicals and retail.
The project seeks to develop the procedures for generally accepted standards for AI systems and their verification. For this purpose, catalogs of requirements with technical, legal and ethical-philosophical criteria are developed. The CST is responsible for the ethical-philosophical sub-project.
For a certified AI, the interaction of philosophy, computer science and law is central. You can find the central guidelines such as data protection, transparency and fairness in this white paper on certification.
Further information can be found on the pages of KI.NRW and Fraunhofer IAIS.
