Join us for our get together on Monday, 08th July at the IZPH, where we will discuss Gender and Digital Media in a casual enviroment with our current Mercator Visiting Professors!

Neda Atanasoski is Professor and Chair of the Harriet Tubman Department of Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies at the University of Maryland. She is the author of Humanitarian Violence: The U.S. Deployment of Diversity (2013), co-author of Surrogate Humanity: Race, Robots, and the Politics of Technological Futures (2019), and co-editor of Postsocialist Politics and the Ends of
Revolution (2022), both with Kalindi Vora.

Kalindi Vora is Professor of Ethnicity, Race, and Migration, and Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies at Yale University. Her first book, Life Support: Biocapital and the New History of Outsourced Labor, takes up questions of technology, colonialism and raced and gendered labor under globalization.

In their co-authored book Surrogate Humanity, our current Mercator Visiting Professors examine the role of robots, artificial intelligence and other technologies as substitutes for human labour within a labour system rooted in racial capitalism and patriarchy.
