Raymond Tallis, philosopher and emeritus professor of geriatrics at the University of Manchester, will give a lecture about his most recent monograph Logos. The Mystery of How We Make Sense of the World on Tuesday, 21.05.2019. In his book Raymond Tallis tries to scrutinize why a universe that assumedly was generated by processes ruled by mere chance can ever become intelligible to human thought. He will argue that neither a materialist reductionism nor idealism will ever be in prospect to give a conclusive answer to the question of how thought and being are capable of finding together. As a result of his analysis he will lay out his own approach to the issue without locating the universe inside the mind, or making the mind a mere part of the universe.
